Rankled

Prepare for a rant. Why is is that no one knows what a "paramedic" is? Or that there is a difference between EMT and Paramedic. And that we don't appreciate being called "ambulance drivers". I mean, I know what nurses are. I have seen Scrubs, House, General Hospital, ER, and Grey's Anatomy. When someone tells me that they are a nurse, I don't assume that they are an LVN or LPN and can only empty bedpans. But I promise, when the majority of the public hears that one is a paramedic, they assume that person works for a private and just drive people to the hospital. They never think of Emergency! (Johnny and Gage), or Heroes. And they sure don't think of the new comedy Trauma. Trauma is the most realistic show ever about paramedics. Honest.
